Kevin

Junior Study Manager
Paris Joined IFOP : June 2008

A few words on your background :
"I graduated from Business School (EUROMED Marseilles), which gave me the possibility of going to the USA for 2 years. This way I had the opportunity to discover the world of market studies during a course in a market research institute in Los Angeles. Once back in France I wanted to continue in this field, gaining more experience of quantitative and qualitative studies. For the last year I have been Study Manager in Ifop's Luxury Division".

Your job on a day-to-day basis
"I intervene at all stages of a study. Firstly I organise implementation of the study, notably concerning follow-up and fieldwork coordination. Then come the phases of questionnaire design, data processing, analysis of results, editing, and presentation to the client"

What do you like about your job?
"The job I do is very varied. Apart from the fact of working in contact with a multitude of interlocutors and intermediaries in the world of market studies, my job gives me a better understanding of the problems faced by our clients, not only in France but also abroad, as most of the Luxury studies are international. I thus have numerous occasions to put my languages into practice on a daily basis, and even travel abroad for the launch of certain international studies"

Your impressions of Ifop ?
"I applied to Ifop because for me this institute is a reference in the field of market research and opinion polls. What is more, the creation of the Trends and Prospective and Strategic Planning Departments shows a real desire on the part of Ifop to follow the market and its evolutions on a permanent basis and to benefit from an original approach in the market study universe"

Senior Study Manager
Joined IFOP : April 2008

A few words on your background
"After a somewhat unusual background of graduating from Business School, EM Lyon, and gaining a DEA in philosophy, as well as a course in a market research institute, I chose to turn towards qualitative studies. It is in this perspective that I applied for a job at Ifop, and I am now senior study manager in the Quali services department"

Your job on a day-to-day basis
"I work on ad hoc qualitative studies, which means that each time I am dealing with specific issues. In practical terms, I participate in reflection on the methodology to be implemented; I intervene on logistical aspects and conduct interviews. Most of my work consists of analysing the collected data, with response to clients' expectations being a constant leitmotiv"

What do you like about your job?
"Qualitative studies represent an ideal conciliation of my interests in the world of business and in human and social sciences. It is a profession that gives me the opportunity for learning how businesses function and about trends in society, which is particularly stimulating"

Your impressions of Ifop?
"Ifop is a major player in the world of market research, while at the same time being of intermediate size. It offers its employees the possibility of confronting their approaches, through studies combining quali and quanti phases. In addition, the fact of working in a Quali Services Department means I can benefit from the dual methodological and sectorial specialisation"

Section leader
Joined IFOP : May 2005

A few words on your background
"After several apprenticeship experiences in market research in the context of my DESS Marketing (advertisers, market research institute), I started at Ifop in May 2005 as junior study manager in the Media Division. Two years later I was promoted senior study manager before again been promoted at the beginning of the year 2009 to the post of section leader."

Your job on a day-to-day basis
"As a member of the Media Division team, in the same way as study managers, my role consists of ensuring production of some of the ad hoc quantitative and qualitative studies. I have two principal additional tasks in my capacity as section leader: greater involvement in commercial relations (prospection, commercial operations, project reporting…), and supervising a team of study managers"

What do you like about your job?
"What I like about my job is the variety: on the one hand the studies carried out (advertising post-test, image evaluation, new concept tests…) and on the other hand, issues encountered within the Media department which are central to current affairs and the constant technological evolutions in this sector (TNT, TMP, media convergence,…)"

Your impressions of Ifop?
"At Ifop, I have been able to evolve at my own rhythm within a friendly team. Due to the size of the company and of the team, I benefit from real autonomy for my work, which up till now has allowed me to be constantly learning new things"

Study Director
Joined IFOP : April 2001

A few words on your background
"I joined Ifop in April 2001 for my course at the end of my studies, after which I was taken on as study manager in the Consumer Division. Having considered the individual in his capacity as consumer, I wanted to consider him as a citizen. So three years later I joined the Opinion and Corporate Strategies Division, where I have been working for the last five years."

Your job on a day-to-day basis
"There are two principal aspects to my job: commercial and production. The commercial side consists of responding to public invitations to tender or to private consultations, understanding the objectives of the commissioning body, and proposing a study project in which we detail the methodology, schedule, and budget. Then follows study production, when the team designs the questionnaire, organises the fieldwork, collects data, analyses it and presents findings to the commissioning body. Of course, a typical day's work is 60% planned and 40% unplanned! That is why reactivity and ability to adapt are essential"

What do you like about your job?
"Without a doubt it is the diversity and the topicality, but also the universality of subjects. The fields of study I work in are very varied and are often linked to current affairs, or at least are of concern to every citizen to a greater or lesser extent. In addition, when we see that the findings we present to our clients allows them to decide on definite orientations, then this is a source of great satisfaction!"

Your impressions of Ifop?
"No such thing as routine! Studies have a deadline and we have several on the go at the same time. In addition, Ifop presents the advantage of conciliating reputation, seniority, and human size. Within the Opinion and Corporate Strategies Division at Ifop, the human element is as important as the rest"

Customer Relations Manager
Joined IFOP : June 1999

A few words on your background
"I joined Ifop 10 years ago as Study director. My career had followed a rather unusual path since previously I had worked in the merchandising department of a major group. I entered the world of market research somewhat by chance, and that is how I started at Ifop. I have always worked in the Omnibus department, where for the last five years I have been Director of Customer Services, working from Nice thanks to teleworking!"

Your job on a day-to-day basis
"As Director of Customer Services, 80% of my time is devoted to the commercial aspect. I have a portfolio of regular clients to manage and therefore a certain number of commercial actions to fulfil (spontaneous projects linked to current affairs, mailing…). My job consists also of supervising the team's section leaders and helping them in their commercial function. The rest of my time is devoted to the production of studies, such as validating questionnaires and study reports produced by the team before presentation to clients. Even though a large part of my job consists of weaving commercial links with my clients, I remain 100% market research as far as both knowledge of projects underway and methodological expertise and research for innovative procedures are concerned."

What do you like about your job?
"What I particularly like is being at the heart of customer relations, able to advise, accompany and provide my clients with the most relevant possible recommendations. Working within the Omnibus department also enables me to work with several types of study, learning and progressing each day."

Your impressions of Ifop?
"As I see it, Ifop is distinctive for its size, which means we have the advantage of flexibility and availability for our clients. These latter really appreciate having an identifiable interlocutor for the management of their studies. The human size of Ifop and its teams thus constitutes our true added value."

Your job on a day-to-day basis
"As Director of the division, I intervene in studies under way, in the department's commercial development (prospection, projects, definition of estimates…), in supervision of the team and also in definition of the health division's strategy. 80% of our studies are international, conducted on behalf of pharmaceutical companies or institutions. We also work closely with Ifop North America in the context of the creation of Ifop Global Healthcare."

What do you like about your job?
"Above all the variety of the job, as much in relation to clients as in relation to the type of studies and subjects or the responsibilities I am accorded. I enjoy real autonomy of working. In particular, the healthcare universe is exciting, very interesting, and this sector constitutes a strategic development axis for Ifop. We are also able to call on all the expertise present at Ifop, a source of professional and personal enrichment. Finally, it is the teamwork and being with the team that is my greatest daily source of satisfaction."
