The Ifop survey for LCI, conducted after Sébastien Lecornu’s resignation, confirms a very high climate of concern: 64% cite worry as their main feeling (compared with 62% on August 26 and 60% at the beginning of May), far ahead of anger (24%), while hope falls further to 2% (after 7% in August and 11% in May).

The demand for political clarification is also growing: 66% want a dissolution and new legislative elections (versus 63% at the end of August 2025 and 61% at the beginning of September).

The prognosis of a dissolution is also on the rise: 53% consider that Emmanuel Macron will dissolve the National Assembly in the next few months (versus 30% at the beginning of June, 34% at the beginning of July, and 49% at the end of August).

As for the desired profile for the next Prime Minister, the most cited option is a profile from civil society (51% in favor). This is followed, with very marked differences, by an appointment from the RN (43% in favor), the Socialist Party (35%), the Nouveau Front Populaire (35%), the Republicans (31%) and, much further back, the central bloc Renaissance-Horizons-MoDem (24%). These preferences are strongly polarized by partisan proximity: for example, 79% of those close to Renaissance would be in favor of a Prime Minister with a profile from the central bloc, while 89% of RN sympathizers support a profile from the RN; conversely, 92% of PS sympathizers validate a profile from the PS.

Finally, 62% of respondents believe that politicians calling for the resignation of the President of the Republic and an early presidential election are right, versus 38% who believe they are wrong. The partisan divide is massive: 85% of RN sympathizers and 87% of those close to LFI believe they are right, compared with just 14% at Renaissance.
