Ifop publishes its popularity ratings for August for the Journal du Dimanche.
Emmanuel Macron recorded a significant rise in popularity, with 24% satisfied in August (+5 points). His popularity was particularly high among 50-64 year-olds (+8 points) and business leaders (+26 points). On the political front, his rise was particularly noticeable on the left, with a 15-point increase in satisfaction among voters close to LFI and a 4-point increase among those close to the PS, a possible consequence of recent announcements on the recognition of Palestine. Conversely, in his own camp, the President is losing popularity, with a 6-point drop among Renaissance supporters.
For the first time since February, François Bayrou recorded a 2-point rise in popularity to 20%. As with Emmanuel Macron, François Bayrou gained ground among 50-64 year-olds (+ 3 points) and business leaders (+ 20 points). Nevertheless, the Prime Minister is losing popularity within the parties supporting his government, as his popularity erodes among voters close to the Republicans (30%, – 13 points) and those close to Renaissance (55%, – 2 points), demonstrating the precariousness of his position in public opinion ahead of the vote of confidence on September 8.
