Ifop for JDD has carried out the popularity indexes for June.

On the one hand, Emmanuel Macron recorded a second consecutive drop since April 2025 (23% of French people said they were satisfied with Emmanuel Macron as President of the Republic, compared with 25% in May and 28% in April). It should be noted that satisfaction is in the minority in all categories of the population.

The decline in the President’s popularity is explained in particular by a heightened sense of powerlessness on the international stage (perception of a spectator role during the war in Iran, etc.).

On the other hand, 20% of French people say they are satisfied with François Bayrou as Prime Minister (down 18 points since the budget vote).

In the history of the Indices de popularité (a barometer in use since 1958), never before has a Prime Minister recorded as many dissatisfied French people as François Bayrou (80%), an absolute record (with rates similar to those of Edith Cresson in November 1991).

François Bayrou is associated with inaction (perceived failure of the conclave on pensions) and remains at the heart of the high-profile Betharram affair.
