Ifop’s popularity ratings for Le Journal du Dimanche confirm a downward trend for French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister François Bayrou.

Emmanuel Macron recorded a clear decline: only 19% of French people said they were satisfied with his performance as President of the Republic, compared with 25% in May and 23% in June. This represents a drop of 4 points in one month. This is the lowest level of satisfaction recorded since the start of his mandate in 2017.

In particular, the President of the Republic is losing ground even among his 2022 electorate, where the satisfaction rate falls to 49%, a drop of 12 points in one month. Satisfaction is now in the minority in all categories of the population.

François Bayrou saw a further drop in popularity: 18% of French people said they were satisfied with his actions, down 2 points on the previous month. The level of dissatisfaction reached 82%, an all-time record, comparable only to that of Édith Cresson in July 1991.
