On March 21st, 2025, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Luxury Symposium in Mumbai, organized by the France-India Chamber of Commerce and the Comité Colbert. This event brought together key players in the Indian luxury ecosystem: from designers like Sabyasachi, to consulting firms such as BCG, and French luxury representatives including Louboutin, the Comité Colbert, and research institutes like Brain Value.

I had already attended the symposium in 2023 in Delhi as a guest, but this year I was invited to speak alongside Chanel India and L’Oréal Luxe India about the future of beauty in India. It was a fascinating discussion, blending current challenges, underlying trends, and forward-looking perspectives. I had the opportunity to bring forward the voices of many Indian consumers I’ve met through numerous ethnographic interviews conducted for various studies.

This opportunity allowed me to connect with a wide range of French and Indian luxury stakeholders, to strengthen our expertise and leadership position in understanding Indian consumers in the fields of luxury and beauty, to gain deeper insight into the strategic challenges faced by brands, and to give greater visibility to Brain Value (and Ifop) internationally by sharing our methodologies and field-based approach.

At the end of this enriching day, we were invited to visit the Chanakya School of Craft, which collaborated closely with Dior for its 2023 show in Mumbai. An inspiring institution that promotes and preserves the richness and diversity of India’s embroidery heritage.
