Ifop, on behalf of the Fondation Jean Jaurès, the SNCF and Urba 2000, has conducted a survey on how the French imagine the future of their region and the priorities they set for its development.nnThe results show that two issues predominate: access to healthcare (52%) and combating insecurity (46%). In rural communities, health is the most important issue (64%), while residents of provincial urban communities place greater emphasis on safety issues (49%).nnFor the future, the French would above all like to see an improvement in their economic situation (27%). This means a better distribution of wealth (8%), increased purchasing power (8%) and more jobs (8%). Next come two other strong expectations: stronger public services (24%) and more transparent governance, accompanied by active citizenship (24%). These results are consistent with previous ones, and reaffirm the need to strengthen local ties and facilitate access to healthcare.nnFinally, the survey focuses on water and transport issues. In line with climate issues, the management of water resources is seen as essential by a large proportion of French people. For 34% of French people, it is a priority to preserve this resource and better anticipate periods of drought. The term most associated with the future of water is “drought” (48%), ahead of “pollution” (34%), “price” (32%), “agriculture” (30%) and “floods” (24%).nnTransportation is also a key issue. The French are above all calling for an improvement in the supply and reliability of public transport (39%), as well as a reduction in its cost (12%).
