Ifop-Fiducial, on behalf of Paris Match and Sud Radio, has just published its ranking of public figures for July 2025.

Against a backdrop of political disenchantment, the July rankings are marked by a general decline in the popularity of political figures: no figure exceeds 50% positive opinions, a first since January 2020, when only Nicolas Hulot passed the 50% mark. Nearly two-thirds of the figures tested are down this month (29 out of 50).

At the top of the ranking, Dominique de Villepin remains in first place with 47% positive opinions, but has seen a sharp decline (-7 points), despite the launch of his political movement “La France humaniste” (Humanist France). He is ahead of Michel Barnier (46%, +3 points), who has moved up six places to second position, while Édouard Philippe, at 45%, completes the top three (-6 points). This is the first time since March 2020 that the mayor of Le Havre has fallen below second place.

The table is also marked by the breakthrough of François Ruffin, who becomes the most popular left-wing figure in the ranking for the first time. The deputy for the Somme gains 4 points and 14 places, reaching fifth position with 43% favorable opinions, ahead of Ségolène Royal and François Hollande (both at 42%). Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who topped the ranking in April 2017, falls to 50th and last place with only 27% favorable opinions.

For the Rassemblement national, Jordan Bardella, who was in the top three last month, fell nine places (41%, down 6 points), while Marine Le Pen fell seven places (36%, down 5 points) to 23rd place.

Bruno Retailleau and Gérald Darmanin are the only ministers to remain above the 40% mark, with 41% favorable opinions each.

As for the head of state, Emmanuel Macron has made slight progress this month, rising from 30% to 33% favorable opinions, thus gaining 14 places (33rd).

At Matignon, François Bayrou remains one of the most unpopular figures in the ranking and continues to fall (-6 points, 30% favorable opinions).
